In 1987 Brian decided to try on his own.
Charlie Kessler of Houston, Texas had
approached Brian with an idea about a
composite cooling tower shaft. The idea
became a reality. Brian, Charlie, and
another Brunswick employee formed
Addax Corporation in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Brian continued to develop the first
composite drive shafts and flexible
couplings for industrial use. The flexible
coupling design was patented. These
drive shafts are mainly used in cooling
towers where their specific modulus and
chemical resistance provide a product
with excellent performance and long life.
Other projects while at Addax included
Reverse Osmosis pressure vessels,
demonstration torpedo drive shafts, and
torpedo bodies.
